Netball Team update

Would you like to play netball this year?

Many of the HASCA’s Netball teams are in need of players to play in the 2016 season.

A team needs at least 7 but ideally 8 – 9 team members to play in the coming season.

*College Team 1 = 1 – 2 more girls needed. Best suited to a player with some recent experience but could also suit someone who has played another team sport and has good ball skills, agility and co-ordination. (age 14+)

*College Team 2 = 4 – 5 more girls needed to proceed. No experience necessary, beginners welcome.

*Year 9 Girls = 1 – 2 more spaces available

*Year 7/8 = 3 – 4 more players needed. Boys and girls welcome.

*Year 4/5 = 1 – 2 more players needed. Boys and girls welcome.

*Year 6 = No team as yet, 8 players needed to form a team. Boys and girls welcome.

Registrations close in March but the sooner spaces are filled the better to enable allocation of coaches, managers, uniforms, gear, practice days and planning of the season.

Fees are typically around $100 for the entire season. (terms 2 & 3) Fees include uniforms, equipment & gear, & NNH registration.

HASCA membership is required to join a HASCA team but anyone is welcome to join HASCA by paying an annual family membership of just $20.

Not Sure?

Come along to the Netball Open Day on March 9th and have a go to see if it’s your thing and to meet the 2016 players and coaches.

Netball Open Day

HASCA Netball – Open Day & Muster 2016

You’re All Invited!

This year we’re trying something a little different to give home educators a chance to ‘have a go’ at netball before the season starts. This will also give those already signed up for the 2016 season a chance to meet their team-mates and to have some netball fun together and finally it will give our co-ordinator a chance to finalize player and team numbers and get things ready for the season. (Setting fees, giving out uniforms, assigning coaches, sending out team lists, buying and giving out equipment etc…)

We invite all home educators in the following age groups to come along and have a go…

  • Primary year 4/5, approx ages 7 – 9 (Boys & Girls)
  • Primary year 6, approx ages 9.5 – 11 (Boys & Girls)
  • Intermediate year 7/8, approx ages 11 – 13 (Boys & Girls)
  • Year 9, approx ages 12 – 13 (Girls Only)
  • College years 10 – 13, approx ages 14 – 18 (Girls Only)

*Please note: We have teams available at 2 levels for the college competition:

Team 1 for players with at least 1 year of previous experience or for those with experience in another ball sport team which has gained them confidence in similar skills as needed for netball. (E.G: basketball or water-polo)
Team 2 for beginners or those with only a little experience.

Parents & New Coaches:
The Open Day will also be a great opportunity for parents & teens considering coaching to observe some drills and game action and discuss coaching requirements with existing coaches. Umpires will get to umpire a few games without any pressure. If enough parents register for coaching our senior coach will run a coaching clinic on the day as well – We need 1 coach and 1 manager per team.

If you already know that you want to play netball this year please email learn2getha@gmail.com to join a team ASAP. Don’t wait for the Open Day. The sooner teams are organized the better.
