Meet the Coaches:
Pedersen Family-72 (2)Introducing the new coaches, meet Randy and Eva-Corrien Randy has been a basketball coach for 20+ years, he started off as a passionate parent. Randy has four children and once was a homeschool dad himself, where he helped establish Homeschool Basketball.

Randy has gone onto coach at many schools at varying age levels. He has worked for Youthtown and Auckland Basketball, while coaching at representative levels. He has a special way with youth of all ages, where he can meet them at their level and develop their skills and love for the game. Randy’s favourite part about coaching basketball is watching those light bulb moments when a youth succeeds at something they have been struggling with. He really enjoys the challenge of getting through to each and every player!

pedersen famEva-Corrien once was a HASCA Homeschool Basketball player herself. She has also refereed and coached basketball along with playing at representative levels for North Harbour right through her youth. She is very passionate to get involved again in coaching with the homeschool basketball programme.

Nowadays, Eva-Corrien is a homeschooling mum that is passionate to grow HASCA Basketball back into what she remembers it being when she was homeschooled. She believes basketball is a wonderful way for children to gain confidence, work on developing their gross motor skills, get in some exercise but most importantly, have fun! Eva-Corrien believes children of every background and level should be able to get involved and enjoy this fabulous sport.

Basketball Team Opportunities:

Our junior home educated basketballers often go on to play in teams and compete against other schools in the North Shore YMCA basketball leagues (Wednesdays and Thursdays). Over the years our HASCA teams have been highly successful.

Our intermediate and senior (high-school) players go on to compete in various inter-school competitions facilitated by Harbour Basketball Association, and/or join Harbour’s representative teams. These leagues are played at the Eventfinda Stadium (previously known as the North Shore Events Centre) in Glenfield, or at AUT Akoranga or Albany campus’.

Team formation depends on sufficient player numbers and volunteers to manage and coach. See HASCA Basketball, or email

hasca-hub-graphicMany other wonderful learning opportunities: homeschool classes and activities run on Thursdays at the same venue, see HASCA HUB.

ymcaPlease note there is a NO DROP AND RUN policy at this venue: YMCA North Shore.
Parents, please do ensure a go-to-adult / parent / caregiver is available and remains on site for all children aged under 14 years.
Thank you very much for your support.

HASCA does not directly run this programme, however we highly recommend and support it. Eva-Corrien is a dedicated homeschooling parent, HASCA member and committee member. Eva-Corrien and Randy are passionate about youth and basketball. Please support ATA Homeschool Basketball through your participation.
