Homeschool Ballet with Debbie de Beer Dance Academy

Ballet lessons for home educated students, toddlers (3+) to teens and all in between, are provided by Debbie de Beer Dance Academy and run weekly at the Thursday HASCA Hub, YMCA, 5 Akoranga Drive, Northcote, in the upstairs dance studio.

Debbie’s approach is to inspire children to love ballet and musical expression rather than to meet grading requirements or sit exams. Therefore, the focus of these classes is on teaching ballet skills and techniques, musicality, co-ordination and performance in a fun and non-pressure way.

As well as learning the fundamentals of ballet through fun and relaxed dance exercises, children will also work towards a performance for the end of the year to show family and friends all that they have learned.

REFERENCE: My 7 year old daughter started ballet with Deborah in term 3 last year age 6.5. She absolutely loves it and thinks Mrs. de Beer is really nice. She had desperately wanted to learn ballet but our previous investigations had only found classes for beginners aged  3 – 5 years. As a mother I was looking for informal, affordable and no pressure ballet classes so that my daughter could have fun learning all the same core ballet techniques with girls her own age,  without the pressure of grading exams and without the cost of a new uniform every 6  – 12 months. Deborah’s classes have met our needs perfectly. N. Lawgun

HASCA does not directly run this activity but is very happy to recommend, promote, and support the Homeschool Ballet Programme. Deborah (or Debbie) de Beer is a homeschooling parent, a kind and lovely lady, and a passionate dance instructor. Please support these wonderful classes through your participation!
