Maori Culture Workshop, 27 July 2009

The theme for Maori Language Week for 2009 was “Te Reo i te Hapori”, Maori Language in the Community. So appropriately our homeschooling community celebrated with a day of Maori Culture led by Rebecca Hall & special guests; Helen, Judy and Nikki. Together, we hosted five fabulous workshops; Mahi Toi (Maori Art), Harakeke (Flax Weaving), Waiata (traditional Maori song and dance – Kei Hea Taku Reo), Paraoa (making Maori bread), Tititora (Maori stick dance – E papa Waiari) & Poi (Poi dance – E rere taku poi)  – all of which showcased Maori language, culture and tradition.
