Homeschool Basketball Team Opportunities with HASCA
HASCA has been officially supporting homeschool sports teams since 2002. Our junior home-educated basketballers deemed ready for team play have the option to compete in Harbour Basketball’s mini-ball or primary inter-school leagues. (YMCA is not longer offering leagues.) Over the years, our HASCA teams have been highly successful.
Our intermediate and senior (high-school-aged) players go on to compete in various inter-school competitions facilitated by Harbour Basketball and/or join Harbour’s representative teams or Men’s leagues (see their website for this option). These leagues are played at the Eventfinda Stadium, previously known as the North Shore Events Centre, in Glenfield, AUT Akorang, AUT Albany/Massey campus, and occasionally, other local school facilities.
HASCA sports team formation depends on sufficient player numbers (of appropriate age and skill level) and volunteers to manage and coach. Some years this is not achievable, but we try to make it happen whenever we can. Parent support is essential to make team opportunities possible.
See HASCA Basketball or email hasca.nz@gmail.com for attention: HASCA Basketball Coordinator if you want to get involved. We highly recommend your child attends the weekly skills sessions with Coach Eva and her coaching team – a great opportunity to make friends, upskill, and be team ready.
HASCA BASKETBALL TEAMS: If you want to play on a team or get involved in 2023, complete the “expression of interest: 2023 Basketball” form. *Please note that team members must be HASCA members and hold a current homeschooling exemption.
