What: Two Workshops for Homeschooling Parents
In term 1, Sophia will be running a two-part series of seminars for parents in weeks 2 – 8, from 25/02.

When: Thursdays 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm – from 25/02/21, see dates & options below

Where: HASCA Hub, YMCA (meeting room), 5 Akoranga Drive, Northcote, North Shore

About Sophia: Sophia Sharpe has been Homeschooling her two sons for 13 years. Her first son is now in his second year at Engineering at AUT. She is still homeschooling her 16-year-old son with NCEA via Te Kura and is looking forward to sharing her encouragement and tips with you. For parents of teens Year 9 and up who are considering OR already doing NCEA at home.

– Understanding NCEA, Te Kura, NZQA and the rest

– Learn how to make a detailed plan that covers a year of learning

– We’ll also cover the niggling problems such as;

** Does my teen need to sit exams?

** She doesn’t like learning online – what do I do?

** We can’t do Level 1 NCEA with Te Kura because he’s too young for the “free” system?

** Just help me, we don’t know anything

WHEN: Starting Thurs 25th Feb and run over 2 sessions on Thursdays weeks 2 and 3, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

COST $30.00pp (If you would like to bring your teen, they are half price $15).

Workshop 2) Learn How to Homeschool with Confidence

For parents of children aged 4-13

– Develop a plan to homeschool the way that suits you best.

– Interactive format so you leave with practical plans and ideas

– We will cover things such as;** What do I do about maths, english and science?

** How much time should I spend each day on homeschooling?

** What should we be covering for his year level? How do I even start?

WHEN: Five sessions starting in March, Weeks 4 through 8, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

COST: $50.00pp

  5. Preparing Your Child for Highschool and Troubleshooting (08/04/21)
