Our last MERC Day ran in 2020, so, we are so excited to offer this event in 2023!
HASCA’s EOY MERC DAY will take place on Thursday, December 7th, 2023.
Registrations will open in October. In the meantime, please ‘save the date’ in your diary!

What is MERC?!
The Sir Peter Blake Marine Education & Recreation Centre is a not for profit Charity based at Long Bay, Auckland. MERC offers marine based environmental education and outdoor recreational experiences to schools and other groups.
Where is MERC?!
Sir Peter Blake MERC is about 20 minutes drive from the Auckland’s CBD and is located at 1045 Beach Rd, Long Bay.
What happens?!
Prior to the day we set up a fantastic programme with MERC! Students are placed in groups & will participate in a mix of THREE age appropriate land or water-based activities throughout the day! Activities may include: Abseiling, Climbing, Stack’em High Challenge, Archery, Orienteering, Body Boarding, Canadian Canoe, Dinghy Games, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Snorkeling, Raft Building, or Surfing. Children will undertake missions within their activities, and learn elements of marine biology – gaining awareness this unique and beautiful environment.
Who?!
Home educated students aged 7 to 18 years are welcome to participate in HASCA MERC Days.
HASCA members or non members are welcome – this event is for our homeschooling community!

Up to 120 students maximum

Non-members / standard rate … TO BE ADVISED
* HASCA 2023-members will be given priority placement*
