NZ Breakers Experience, 19 August 2008

On August 19th 2008, HASCA was invited to take a group of 80 home educated children to the NZ Breakers‘ training stadium, located on Auckland’s North Shore, for the Ultimate Basketball Experience!

We were given the opportunity to watch the last hour of the NZ Breakers‘ super-physical training session. It was great for the children to experience first hand the requirements and demands of a professional athlete – and to witness their passion for the sport!

We were also invited to tour their training facility. The children were able to ask questions about their favourite players, view their lockers and learn more the physical demands of Basketball.

The highlight of the morning was definitely training alongside the NZ Breakers, the children picked up some great new ball skills. The team, coaches and Breakers’ staff were both welcoming and encouraging. We felt very privileged!

Finally, the children enjoyed some meet and greet time with the players… time to collect autographs! On our departure – each child was given a basketball training dvd, a Breaker’s basketball, and tickets to the Breakers’ next game. What an amazing experience!!!!
